Purpose

To deliver on marketing operations activities and providing marketing & business development support.

Key Performance Areas and Accountabilities

Global Shared Services | Practice and Function Support | Content and Materials Administration

  • Work closely with the members of the Marketing and Business Development teams to provide appropriate levels of support by service area with a consistent, reliable, timely, and high quality approach.
  • Develop a solid understanding of Hogan Lovells, including practices, industries, clients, and competitive positioning. Know our business.
  • Act as guardian and internal expert on the firm’s tone of voice, writing style and related guidance. This also includes application in supporting materials drafted by the team (process maps, standard operating procedures (SOPs), reference guides, etc.).
  • Shared services partnership with practice areas, industry sectors, and regions to deliver high quality deliverables, including and not limited to directory submission processes, drafting pitches, business summaries, credentials content management, deal reporting, client and Engage alerts, Client listening (post-interview components), and experience capture methods
  • Client listening – Track and update client listening interviews and feedback according to the Client Listening Program, capturing information in the Client Listening Database and/Tracker.
  • Directory submission administration – draft and review Chambers and Legal rankings analyses for distribution to the relevant M&BD teams
  • Research and review relevant market, industry, competitive, and business information for the preparation of relevant content in the form of Business Summaries.

Aligned Services | Practice and Function Support | Content and Materials Administration

  • Act as guardian and internal expert on the firm’s tone of voice, writing style and related guidance
  • Develop a solid understanding of your aligned practice, area, industry or team, and competitive positioning. Know our business.
  • Work closely with the members of aligned Marketing and Business Development teams and assist them in deliverables by providing a broad range of support including, and not limited to, content tracking and newsletter creation, creating iPublish campaigns/invitations/surveys, Credentials, Directory Submissions and Directory Submission administration, Pitches, Projects, Pulling and generating reports, Research and Client Intelligence, Social media, Updating materials in Word, PowerPoint and InDesign, Internal/external website updates, writing drafts for award submissions, and other services in support of the firm’s business development requirements
  • Credentials hub – Collaborate with practice area, regional, and industry Marketing and Business Development teams to update the credentials database.
  • Directories and awards submissions (request only) – Provide support for deliverables (updating Market Voice, Submission Tracker, biography profiles, ranking analysis, publication and submission deadlines, maintaining directories and awards database etc.).
  • Research and review relevant market, industry, competitive, and business information for the preparation of relevant content.
  • Proofing internal and external client facing deliverables and saving to the appropriate document management system.
  • Sponsorship administration (on request)– Facilitate approval of lawyer sponsorship requests by Practice Group Leader/s and relay feedback to lawyers.
  • Provide administrative support for events, webinars, and conferences.

Global Shared Services and Aligned Services | Processes, Systems and Ad Hoc

  • Ensure that the systems and processes we use to support our marketing activities are managed and promoted in an integrated and consistent manner, across our international network of offices.
  • Other duties and systems as assigned, supporting a broad range of M&BD services.

  • Perform additional duties or responsibilities, which fall reasonably within the ambit of the job description, or in accordance with operational requirements.

Requirements Profile

Education

  • Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF 4) – Required
  • Degree/Certificate/Diploma or equivalent tertiary qualification in Marketing, Communications, English, or related field (NQF 5/6/7) – Required

Mental & Environmental / Legal Requirements

  • Dedicated to meeting and exceeding client/stakeholder expectations.
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively in a high pressure environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • An excellent team player; a highly motivated and enthusiastic self-starter with a can-do attitude.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Clear criminal record

Experience

  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in Marketing at Operational level – Required
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience working in a legal environment at Operational level – Recommended

System Skills

  • MS Office – Intermediate to Advanced (Required)

  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to write clearly for an international audience
  • Strong attention to detail with exceptional copy editing and proofreading skills, from general text to specialized content
