JOB DESCRIPTION
The Manufacturing Pharmacist Intern is a registered Pharmacist and/or an individual with a Pharmacy Technology Diploma or equivalent to either, who has thorough understanding of pharmaceutical law and administration, and must be able to skilfully navigate to uphold patient safety. This internship is aimed at preparing the successful candidate for the Manufacturing Pharmacist/Pharmacist Assistant Role.
This position directly supports the Responsible Pharmacist/Qualified Person (RP/QP) office for all manufacturing activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. PRODUCTION RELATED ROLES
- Performance of Line clearances
- Verify the identity and quantity of raw materials, bulk materials, packaging materials etc. before production operations begin
- Inspect the packaging and labelling operations and ensure that correct procedures are followed
- Participate in in-process Quality checking such as Packaging Line checks
2. QUALITY ASSURANCE RELATED ROLES
- Ensuring that Retest dates have been labelled appropriately for products in the storage areas
- Ensure that materials in the storage areas have been labelled appropriately by the responsible people (i.e., Best Before or Expiry Dates are as per current Bulk Hold Time Studies and relevant Packaging Dates for finished products)
- Check that the inventory storage areas are compliant with relevant procedures
- Assist the inventory controller in moving Finished Goods from Quarantine status to Released status, and removal of product destined for destruction
- Place Reject labels on product being rejected from the storage areas
- Ensure that waste is prepared accordingly, observe the incineration of waste, and update the waste log appropriately
- Ensure all waste is secured en route to the destruction site
3. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- This job requires frequent movement, including walking, standing, and lifting containers of up to 19 kg in weight
- Candidates should be comfortable with physical tasks, bending, and being on their feet for most of the workday
- Ability to perform these duties safely and efficiently is essential

QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications are preferred:
- A Pharmacy Degree
- A Diploma in Pharmacy Technology
