Manager Utilities ( HRL 17 )
Sappi Tugela Mill requires a Manager Utilities to ensures that the plant meets budgeted output, optimise plant efficiency, manage VP & Fixed costs, maintenance planning and SHE performance by leading and managing engineering/maintenance activities and operations activities.
This role reports to Engineering Manager
The main responsibilities of this job are:
Operational Excellence
- Continually seek opportunities for the enhancement of the productivity and quality by applying TPM and Lean Manufacturing Principles.
- Plans the plant operations to ensure the optimum utilisation of all resources.
- Plans and manage shut and maintenance plans within the section.
- Initiating and implementing engineering and maintenance standards and procedures.
Engaged and Developed Workforce
- Set goals and appraises immediate subordinates on bi-annual basis giving more frequent coaching and feedback.
- Ensures competency of all subordinates through adequate training, assessments and coaching.
Compilation and Control Costs
- Forecasts and prepares annual capital, fixed and variable cost budgets, controls these and reports monthly on status thereof.
Builds Customer Relations
- Communicates with the internal / external suppliers / customers
- Responds to customer feedback and takes corrective action if required.
Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance
- Ensures that the department complies in all respects with the relevant statutory requirements (OHS Act, Environmental Regulations) by implementing the necessary control measures and rectifying inadequacies and non-conformances.
- Ensures plant’s conformance to the OSHAct 18000, ISO 9002 and ISO 14000 systems
The ideal candidate should have:
- BSc Engineering Degree or S4 / T4 or equivalent
- GCC Factories
- 5-8 years’ experience within a manufacturing environment.
- 2 years supervisory experience
- Computer Literate (Complete MS Office Package)
- 3 years’ experience in a paper mill production environment would be advantageous.
- SAP would be advantageous
