Sentebale’s Mamohato Children’s Centre (MCC), located in Thaba Bosiu, is a purpose-built campsite, lodge, conference facility and events venue. It also serves as the headquarters of Sentebale Lesotho. MCC is designed to provide people of all ages with a safe, inclusive, comfortable, fun leisure, business experience or celebration. It is ideal for children and young people with diverse abilities to convene and collaborate in an adventure-filled setting.

Sentebale is seeking an experienced, skilled, reliable MCC Manager for a fixed term of two (2) years, with the possibility of extension.

JOB PURPOSE: The MCC Manager oversees the overall operations of the MCC and ensures that the MCC meets Sentebale and industry standards for DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion), functionality, safety and guest/user satisfaction. The role manages all the facilities of the MCC, and is responsible for ensuring exceptional guest experiences, managing staff, and maintaining the overall quality and profitability of the MCC.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Management – Implement a gainful, client-driven business model. Ensure absolute compliance with Sentebale’s Safeguarding Policy by MCC staff, guests, visitors, service providers and users. Ensure that MCC facilities and equipment meet safety, hygiene, legislative and warranty requirements.
  • Stakeholder Relations – Develop and maintain active relations with community leaders and managers of neighbouring facilities. Build and maintain relations with child and youth non-profit organisations, guests, travel agents, tour operators, Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation and other key stakeholders.
  • People Management – Interview, hire, train, allocate responsibilities, and motivate staff. Manage MCC team performance, constantly developing team skills to deliver the highest possible quality service and demonstrate Sentebale values. Ensure compliance with labour legislation and HR policies.
  • Administration, Financial Management and Reporting – Oversee bookings and scheduling of MCC accommodation, conferencing and event spaces. Implement maintenance plans for routine servicing, renovations and repairs of assets and safety equipment. Manage contracts with suppliers and service providers. Implement an effective quoting, invoicing and receipting system. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual budget forecasts.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, Business Management, Tourism or related field. Postgraduate qualification preferred.
  • Experience – At least 3 years’ experience managing a lodge, accommodation facility and/or conference centre. Successful track record managing events.
  • Skills & Attributes – Solid leadership and communication skills, with the ability to multi-task and problem solve across a variety of issues. Comfortable and professional in situations requiring the highest levels of confidentiality or sensitivity. Proficient in Office 365, online conferencing platforms, project management applications and accounting systems. Good negotiation and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English.
  • Fluent in Sesotho.
  • Permitted to live and work in Lesotho.
  • Valid drivers’ license.
  • Passion for the mission and vision of Sentebale.
