Job Purpose

Co-ordinate and consolidate the financial planning and forecasting processes for BCC & Corporate Functions. Timeous and quality reporting of financial plans and forecasts to business. This requires effective and relevant integrated reporting, via efficient reporting platforms, linking value drivers measured by means of financial and non-financial metrics to execution. Successful integration and training of SAP Finance applicationsfor business and Country.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Reporting of financial results to Finance Manco and business owners within set timelines.
  •  Manage and produce accurate and useful financial information.
  • Preparation of commentaries on the Business results, including investigation into inconsistent and / or major variances.
  • Preparation of reports on product profitability.
  • Assist with the credibility and utilisation of the finance systems in close co-operation with special projects teams (Cube, BOLT).
  • Prepare analysis schedules / reports and provide input to Finance Manco.
  • Interpret and effectively communicate quality information through information analysis.
  • Assist the Head of Planning and Analytics in the execution of:
  • Timelines;
  • Level of detail required in delivery; and
  • Standard and quality of deliverablesLinking value drivers to strategy, aligned to meet the strategic objectives of the Business and the Bank.
  • Engage with the BU planning teams to drive ownership of their operational plans and execution thereof.Execute on the annual financial planning; resource allocation and forecasting processes (Business Quarterly Reviews and Rolling Forecasts).
  • Produce a financial planning and forecasting management information pack.
  • Timeous and quality reporting of financial plans and revisions thereon, and forecasts (Financial Analysis together with presentations).
  • Perform detailed review and analysis of the business numbers to confirm the integrity and reliance of reported results of plans, budgets, forecasts.
  • Ensure financial disciplines are in place in respect of planning, resource allocation and forecasting.
  • Maintain adherence to the Bank’s policies and guidelinesin respect of planning, resource allocation and forecasting.
  • Provide support in the running of the consolidation process of the annual planning cycles.
  • Provide support to business partners during the planning processes.
  • Ensure financial planning and resource allocation alignment between business unit and legal entity.
  • Deliver high quality insights and analytics aligned to best practice, to an agreed timetable.
  • Provide insight and commentary within agreed timeframes.
  • Provide input, guidance and updates in the generation of the financial plans and Forecast plan at a product, business and legal entity level.
  • Communicate, advise and deliver financial plans and Forecasting objectivesto the BU’s, to enable the completion of all requirements within the set and agreed upon timeframesnalyse financial results in terms of the business drivers and provide value added comments,suggestions and recommendationsto business partners.
  • Monitor and drive the critical performance ratios, e.g. cost-to-income, ROE, Jaws.
  • Detailed analysis and commentary on revenues, assets, liabilities and capital, expenses, headcount analytics and other key ratios e.g. Risk Weighted Assets (RWA), Return on Equity (RoE), Cost of Funding etc. which have an impact on the decisions made by the Bank.
  • Deliver timely, high quality and effective management reporting that provides key insights, highlighting risks and aids the decision-making process.
  • Ensure awareness of market trends, continuously keep abreast and anticipate the impact thereof on business performance.
  • Provide support and monitor key business and financial ratios for all businesses;
  • Understand business information requirements and assist with developing ways of delivering these information needs through technology solutions.
  • In addition to attending formal training courses, take ownership for self-development and stay abreast of market trends and business news.
  • Provide input in the delivery of rolling forecasts based on business drivers such as impact of changing macro-indicators, loan book growth and business volumes for all regions.
  • Raise and address critical issues as they arise.

Preferred Qualification and Experience

  • Bcom, GA, CIMA. CA will be added advantage.
  • 3-5 Experience in the execution of long, medium and short term budgeting and planning goals and using accumulated historical data to analyse and predictfuture outcomes. Understanding the drivers of budget / forecast plans and how any changes in macros and strategy will impact these.
  • Providing advice and guidance to various parts of the bank’s business in relation to their financial control, budgeting and general financial decision making.
  • Provision of management information to support the business in decision making
  • Preparation of financialstatements for external decision makers, such as shareholders, clients, suppliers, other banks, regulators, analysts and other stakeholders
