Role based in Johannesburg or KwaZulu Natal province
Reporting to the HR Manager, Energy and Minerals Atlantic, the Manager, Employee Relations – Southern Africa, will provide strategic and operational employee relations advice to our business units in the region.
The role is specializing in building and maintaining constructive Employee relations contributing to business success. The role also includes liaising with Governmental bodies on policy and legislation development.
Accountabilities:
- Provides specialist ER support to the business unit leaders and local HR team to develop and implement ER strategies and tactics aligned with the Global Employee Relations Framework, regional context and business unit needs

Proactively manages and identifies ER matters, and acts as an escalation point to resolve significant and complex issues

Builds and maintains constructive dialogue with key stakeholders, employee representatives and governmental bodies

Support and coach the local HR team on various ER matters

Provides ER support to projects in the Southern African region

Works with the business unit to monitor, audit and report on employee relations strategy performance at regional level and work with business to address deficiencies

Develops effective relationships with legal providers to support the delivery of cost effective and appropriate advice on employee relations matters
To be successful, you will have:
-
Bachelors’ degree in HR, ER or business administration
-
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a senior Employee Relations role in a unionized environment in South Africa

Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiating skills

Strong business acumen and ability to analyse data, drive insights, conceptualise ideas and succinctly and effectively write and present compelling recommendations.
