CALL FOR REGISTRATION: MALETSUNYANE BRAAI FESTIVAL 2026 BRAAI MASTER COMPETITION
Are you the next Braai Master? The heat is on!
The 9th Edition of the Maletsunyane Braai Festival invites all passionate braai lovers to showcase their skills, creativity and flavour at the 2026 Braai Master Competition.
COMPETITION CATEGORIES
1. Braai Master
- Competition: Potjie and Braai Platter
- Available spaces: 10 teams, with 2 people per team.
2. Butchery Perfect Steak
- Competition: Perfect Steak
- Available spaces: 5 teams, with 2 people per team.
PRIZES
Braai Master Category
- 1st Position: M1,500 grocery voucher, Basotho blanket, official Maletsunyane 2026 T-shirt and a case of Maluti.
- 2nd Position: Basotho blanket, official Maletsunyane 2026 T-shirt and a case of Maluti.
- 3rd Position: Basotho blanket, official Maletsunyane 2026 T-shirt and a case of Maluti.
Butchery Perfect Steak Category
- M1,000 grocery voucher, Basotho blanket, official Maletsunyane 2026 T-shirt and a case of Maluti.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
- Participants must have a Braai Festival ticket to take part in the competition.
- Teams can only register for one category.
- Each team will be provided with a braai stand, wood and firelighter.
- Meat/protein and a few ingredients to complement the protein will be provided by the organisers.
- Teams are allowed to bring extra ingredients to enhance their competition dishes.
- Teams are encouraged to bring braai-friendly sets (e.g. tongs), crockery and cutlery to serve their meals.
- Each team will be responsible for managing its own braai stand/fire.
- Teams registering for the Potjie Competition should bring potjie pots/Dutch ovens, size 3 maximum.
- Prizes will be awarded for the best dishes in the different categories.
- The idea of the competition is to promote camaraderie at the Maletsunyane Braai Festival, have fun, and create long-term friendships and connections.
- Teams can dress according to the theme.
- Participants are not allowed to ask for assistance from non-participants to prepare food, other than their teammates.
- Disregarding the rules will lead to disqualification.
