The primary objective is ensuring maximum operational uptime while upholding strict compliance with Good Agricultural and Collection Practices (GACP), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards.
This role requires strong technical problem-solving skills, hands-on diagnostic capability across industrial plant equipment, and the ability to adapt to operational challenges without compromising regulatory or safety requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Facility Machinery & Infrastructure Maintenance
- Maintain, service, and repair commercial HVAC networks, split AC units, and climate management systems to keep crop environments within target parameters.
- Service and overhaul industrial boilers, thermal heating distribution lines, heat exchangers, and control valves.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain high-volume centrifugal pumps, booster pumps, fertigation distribution manifolds, and fluid control systems.
- Service and repair high-capacity greenhouse exhaust fans, intake louvers, and motorized airflow equipment.
- Maintain motorized shade and light-deprivation screen systems, including drive motors, cables, tracks, and mechanical linkages.
- Perform routine calibration and troubleshooting of automated climate control systems, sensor networks (temperature, RH, EC, pH), and automated actuators.
2. Quality & Regulatory Compliance (GACP & GMP)
- Execute all maintenance activities in strict compliance with GACP (cultivation phase) and GMP (post-harvest processing) guidelines.
- Complete accurate, audit-ready Preventive Maintenance (PM) logs, equipment history files, and calibration records following Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Enforce strict hygiene, bio-security, and sanitation protocols during maintenance interventions to eliminate pest, mold, chemical, or foreign material contamination risks.
- Coordinate work in cleanroom/processing environments to ensure air handling, environmental boundaries, and product integrity remain uncompromised.
3. Occupational Health, Safety & Environment (OHSE)
- Enforce compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and company safety policies.
- Conduct mandatory risk assessments and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures prior to executing high-risk repairs.
- Maintain all electrical panels, pressure vessels, boilers, and rotating machinery in full accordance with safety codes.
- Safely handle, store, and dispose of lubricants, refrigerants, water treatment chemicals, and technical waste.
4. Technical Problem-Solving & Continuous Improvement
- Rapidly diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic system failures to prevent crop stress or downtime.
- Develop practical, field-level engineering solutions when working under tight timelines or parts availability constraints.
- Assist the Engineering Manager in updating preventive maintenance schedules and maintaining a critical spare parts inventory.
- Innovation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- Proven experience servicing commercial HVAC units, boilers, and industrial centrifugal pumps.
- Practical knowledge with controls and automation, motorized screens, and sensor loops.
- Solid understanding of 3-phase power distribution, motor control panels, VFDs, and fault diagnostics.
- Closely related competencies will be an added advantage.
- Compliance: Direct experience working within GACP, GMP, ISO, or highly regulated production environments.
- Location: Must be based in or willing to relocate to Teyateyaneng, Lesotho.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to lift, move, and carry loads.
