Job Purpose:
To coordinate the work of employees in the general maintenance, repairs, servicing and allocation of equipment and fleet to ensure that site operations progress is not hampered as a result of breakdown and idle time. In charge of overall maintenance responsibilities for all mobile equipment at MGC Mining.
Key Responsibilities:
General Management:
· Oversee all Planning maintenance activities on all mobile equipment and facilities at MMIC
· Compile and revise maintenance philosophy
· Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures;
· Implement and maintain a Con-cat job-card system for all task.
· Implement and Maintain a Service Pack system to facilitate Planned Services job-cards
· Interface with subcontractors’ managers and other senior personnel on daily basis regarding the efficiency and effectiveness of equipment or machinery, in relation to Planning, servicing, maintenance and repairs required;
· Continuously monitor Components, spare parts and Tyre stock levels and adjust according to equipment’s or machinery age and usage;
· Plan and keep record of the company fleet on site and ensure that documentation is kept updated as necessary;
· Facilitate the legal documentation for bringing new and repaired equipment on site.
· Ensure that all Equipment is registered in the MGC Asset register.
· Controlling the expenses of the maintenance department;
· Coordinate and implement company planned maintenance systems and procedures for equipment and machinery in consultation with subcontractors;
· Ensure that the stores facilities maintain adequate stock levels and stock database systems in accordance with the company procedures;
· Set up a weekly Planning schedule for the complete fleet, which comply to the MGC Maintenance strategy.
· Review workplace inspections and process audits as required and implement corrective actions.
· Plan machine rebuilds and component change-outs.
· Maintain a Component Tracking sheet of all components send to Suppliers for repairs.
· Verify repair cost on Component repair quotes against scope of work.
· Compile requisitions and motivations for the repair of components to Procurement Department.
· Compile a scope of work for the repair/ rebuild of Buckets, /Booms/ Blades and structures.
· Supply a Technical Support to Maintenance Team regarding:
1) Component Failures
2) Technical Matters on Cat systems.
3) Failure analysis.
4) Component Failure Investigations.
5) Identifying of Failure trends.
6) Tire Management and Purchasing.
· Conduct daily meetings with BWE on line of business.
Assist with the Condition Monitor function and tasks when he is on his off cycle.
Risk Management
· Ensure a Safe working environment for Maintenance teams
· Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
· Ensure a Safe working environment for Maintenance teams

· Perform emergency rescue activities, and attend required safety and environmental training; and
· Ensure compliance to policies and procedures
· Actively drive the CI Process in the Maintenance Department to improve on:
a) Machine KPI.
b) Machine Maintenance Cost.
c) Safety
People Management
· Coordinate with the Human Resources for appropriate staffing levels;
· Coordinate all workshop activities with the subcontractors to ensure that the maintenance, servicing and repairs of machinery and equipment is in accordance with the company procedures and contract agreement;
· Ensure proper training is given and recorded for all employees in an effort to reduce quality concerns;
· Ensure personnel issues are dealt with on timely manner, including disciplinary actions; and
· Exercise compliance with maintenance standards when implementing and performing all company procedures.
Quality and Reporting Management
· Prepare monthly, weekly and daily workshop progress reports for reporting to the Contract Manager;
· Maintain quality standards on all products to ensure manufacturing with zero defect methodology;
· Ensure quality alerts are communicated to all employees; and
· Ensure that all workshop personnel work within the company’s procedures for health, safety and environmental operations and quality assurance.
· Use the OEM Standards as a guideline to maintain Mobile Fleet.
Qualifications:
Relevant tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering (Diploma at a minimum)
Experience:
At least 10 years relevant working experience in management of fleet and mechanical work
Knowledge:
· Sound knowledge and interpretation of relevant legislation
· Compiling budgeting
· Knowledge of Machine Life cycle cost.
· Knowledge of modern automotive maintenance methods and procedures
· Sound Knowledge of Maintenance Best Practises.
