Job Purpose
To process mail in order to reach its destination within a short specified period of time.
Key Performance Outputs
- Processed mail circulation.
- Guaranteed appropriate mail sorting.
- Processed transactions.
Receivers/Clients:
- Consumers.
- Senior Management Team.
Main Duties
1. Process Mail Circulation
- Process all incoming and outgoing mail.
- Receive and enter mail matters in appropriate bills and books.
- Dispatch internal and international mail and parcels.
2. Guarantee Appropriate Mail Sorting
- Sort letters on primary and secondary sorting frames.
- Sort letters for private bags and private boxes.
- Report irregularities observed during mail sorting.
- Forward unclaimed letters to the Returned Letters Office (RLO).
- Check posted items for damage sustained in transit.
- Process unclaimed mail matter.
3. Process Transactions
- Credit and debit customers’ accounts.
- Record transactions and reconcile with cash balance.
- Process receipts and payments of money and postal orders.
4. Perform Retail Duties
- Perform retail duties on a rotational basis.
- Collect revenue.
- Process and balance transactions.
- Accept and deliver mail items.

Job Specification
- Diploma in Accounting, Diploma in Business Management or Diploma in Business Studies, plus two years’ working experience.
- Experience in Postal Services will be an added advantage.
OR
- COSC plus six (6) years’ working experience as a Postal Clerk (Grade C) or Postal Clerk Assistant (Grade C).
