Interactive Research and Development South Africa (IRD SA NPC) is a South African Section 21 not-for-profit entity and an affiliate of Interactive Research and Development Global (IRD Global), and has fully operational offices in Johannesburg (Gauteng), Pretoria (Tshwane), Durban (KwaZulu-Natal) and Cape Winelands in the Western Cape.
 
Roles and Responsibilities:
Develops and maintains the organisation’s M&E Framework and plan in order to track progress towards meeting set objectives for IRD SA supported programmes and projects;
Design and implementation of an M&E plan to track programme outputs, outcome and impact (against the log frame), to strengthen programme implementation and inform health knowledge base;
Work closely with IRD IT team to use generate automatic data analysis from the electronic dashboard;
Oversee ongoing M&E data collection, analysis and reporting according to programme M&E requirements; 
Designs and conducts programme evaluations including mid-term and end of programme evaluations;
Develops and updates the M&E database and dashboard for storage and management of IRD SA programme data;
Package complex scientific information for a range of stakeholders in an easily understandable and appropriate format for non-scientists, and disseminate as appropriate;
Support the preparation and monitoring of annual work plans and budgets;
Participate in IRD SA proposal writing including writing monitoring and evaluation research proposals for submission for funding; and
Assists in the documentation of IRD SA’s experiences, lessons learnt, impact and best practices to facilitate ease of access to partners, stakeholders, and members of the international community, researchers and policy makers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Postgraduate qualification in public health, sociology, monitoring and evaluation or equivalent degree
Advanced training in M&E is an added advantage
5-10 years’ experience in Monitoring and Evaluation of Tuberculosis or Health related programmes and development of functional monitoring and evaluations systems
Substantial experience working on quantitative/qualitative research in the health sector, including gathering and analysing qualitative and quantitative data
Strong experience in monitoring and evaluating health programmes, including design of M&E systems
Strong experience on communicating evidence effectively to different stakeholders to better inform health planning, decision making, advocacy and accountability efforts
Solid understanding of the health landscape in Southern Africa
Evidence of experience in capacity building and delivery of technical assistance
Experience of working within or in support of Department of Health at national and/or district level
Experience of close working relationships with partners and consortia
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Quantitative and qualitative research techniques
Knowledge of use of Computer based statistical software such as SPSS, Stata, Minitab, CSPro, SAS, EpiInfo, etc
Strong attention to detail required, ensuring effective planning, implementation and execution
Report writing and communication skills
