Candidates for this position will be asked to implement activities in Macomia and surrounding villages. When applying for this position the candidate should know that there are security concerns for some areas of implementation and he/she is in agreement on following Oxfam’s security procedures.

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION

  • Team Purpose : To support in the delivery of an efficient, cost effective and quality service to ensure that Oxfam can develop and implement its operations roles to programme delivery.
  • Job Purpose : To support the Humanitarian Logistics and Administration team in Abuja with the delivery of efficient cost effective and quality logistics and admin services to support the humanitarian (LCB) response. Delivering and responding to Oxfam’s field responses by supporting the capital and field level warehousing, transport and management of supplies, and vehicles; ensuring, transparent and accountable management in line with Oxfam policies and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Procurement

  • Ensure all procurement is conducted in line with Oxfam policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to overall procurement plans for field level requirements
  • As guided and/or delegated by the Officer, undertake field and supplier visits, receiving guidance and support from the Logistics Coordinator or the Humanitarian Program Manager.
  • Ensure adequate specifications are provided from field level for all requisitions.

Assets & Warehouse organization and maintenance

  • To prepare arrival of assets and goods into store/ allocation.
  • Assist the Officer in maintaining and managing the assets and warehouse registers and updating in monthly reports.
  • Supervision of offloading and loading of cargo vehicles at the office, store or warehouse.
  • Organization of warehouse stocks with regard to efficiency, access, security and hygiene and to ensure adherence to health and safety policy.
  • Supervision of casual labourers in the warehouse, where necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of Languages

Fluency in Portuguese is required.

Education

Secondary High School Education

Experience

Over 1 year experience in a related Admin or Logistics field, preferably an NGO

Key Attributes

  • Good arithmetic skills, experience in basic storekeeping techniques, physically fit.
  • Good interpersonal and team working skills and with good initiative
  • Matured and exhibit honesty in handling the programme assets.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to plan effectively with key attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate and write numerical numbers for the purpose of records keeping.
