Loco Driver ( P11 )
Sappi Saiccor is looking for a suitable candidate to shunt raw material by rail into the mill and removal of empty rail tracks to ensure adequate supply of raw material into the mill.
REPORTING TO : Rail Transportation Manager
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate the diesel locomotive adhering to all safety requirements
- Transport rail trucks to relative loading or offloading points timeously
- Inspect the load to be transported and check for loose components and loading defects
- Complete traffic log books as well as shift hand over books
- Inspect the locomotive at the beginning of each shift and report faults accordingly
- During operation of locomotive, listen for noise, knocks or abnormalities and take required action
- Log all defects and repairs required in the loco repair book before the end of each shift.
- Communicate with Transnet regarding yard positions and traffic on route to the mill
- Supervise work completed by the shunter
- Instruct shunter as to where the trucks must be placed as well as correct working procedure to be followed
- Monitor locomotive gauges for correct working pressures and water levels
- Ensure all rail trucks are weighed in and out
- Ensure that working procedures are followed at all times
- Perform any other work of similar level of complexity as directed by Rail Manager

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 with Maths and Science coupled with a loco driver certificate
- Relevant experience within a similar environment would be considered advantageous
