Local Works Program Assistant

Position Description

Through Zemitek’s LS-ISC contract, the Office of Local Sustainability, within USAID’s Bureau for Economic Growth, Education and Environment (E3/LS), is seeking a Local Works Program Assistant to provide administrative, operational, and customer service support. Local Works is a unique USAID program designed to advance locally led development and enhance the Agency’s ability to empower local actors to take the lead in addressing their own development challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Local Works Coordinator and technical staff with a variety of administrative duties, which includes meeting scheduling, notetaking, arranging travel, tracking correspondence, supporting event logistics, tracking document clearance, and maintaining program files;
  • Manage the administrative components of the Local Works Unsolicited Proposal and Application process, which includes receiving, tracking, and properly distributing unsolicited materials, ensuring deadlines are met, validating adherence to Local Works and USAID unsolicited proposal/application requirements, and facilitating timely review of submitted materials;
  • Provide timely, accurate, and professional customer service by coordinating responses and updates to internal and external stakeholders, including USAID staff at field missions and interested organizations around the world;
  • Support Local Works knowledge management and communications efforts, in coordination with appropriate technical staff;
  • Identify opportunities to improve the administration and operations of Local Works programming;
  • Other Local Works and E3/LS administrative, operational, and customer support needs as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Excellent customer service, attention to detail, and organizational skills;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize as necessary, meet short deadlines, and approach work with a sense of urgency, follow-through, and flexibility;
  • Ability to develop and manage appropriate document tracking system – proposal/application management experience a plus;
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and Google G Suite;
  • Experience with coordinating event and travel logistics desired
  • Ability to support a geographically and culturally diverse range of stakeholders.
