JOB TITLE : LIVESTOCK MARKING ASSISTANT

JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Livestock Marking Operator, the incumbent will be responsible for mobilization of the community on livestock registration and marking, marking of livestock, planning and reporting.
MAIN DUTIES
1. MOBILIZATION OF THE COMMUNITY ON LIVESTOCK REGISTRATION AND MARKING (LRMIS)
1.1 Liaise with relevant area chiefs and other local authorities on livestock registration and marking matters
1.2 Conduct awareness campaigns with relevant stakeholders through trainings, lipitso, visits, posters and pamphlets
1.3 Attend chiefs and community council meetings to inform them about Livestock Registration and Marking matters
2.0 MARKING OF LIVESTOCK
2.1 Collect livestock statistics to establish unmarked livestock population
2.2 Hold pre-marking meetings and lipitso with chiefs and other local authorities to set dates and venues for marking of registered livestock
2.3 Mark all registered livestock with branding and tattooing
2.4 Ensure proper handling and usage of equipment
3.0 PLANNING AND REPORTING
3.1 Attend resource centre plannery monthly and quarterly meetings with immediate supervisor to ensure harmonization in implementation of the programme
3.2 Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports
JOB SPECIFICATION
Diploma in General Agriculture/Certificate in General Agriculture.
1 year experience in working under LRMIS department will be an added advantage.
