LIVESTOCK DEMONSTRATOR

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Livestock Demonstrator.

Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum qualification requirement is a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, General Agriculture or Degree in Laboratory Technology. The prospective candidate should have a broad knowledge of livestock management practicals.

Experience of working in a similar position will also be an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities:
 Running and maintenance of instrumentation, equipment and animal science laboratories.
 Assisting staff and students with research projects in the laboratory.
 To assist/give guidance, to students who are carrying out laboratory exercises.
 To assist in marking student tests set by the course instructor using defined marking criteria where marking requires little or no interpretation.
 To provide feedback on student performance and any issues arising in the course of the demonstration, to the course instructor.
 To be aware of any health and safety implications, and take action to maintain a safe environment, raising any concerns with the course instructor.

 To ensure that equipment is functional and/or material for demonstrations, exercises etc is prepared before the start of the session.
 Maintain student attendance records.
 To consult with the Head of Department before performing the laboratory analysis for any other person except registered students of the Department.
 Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Head of the Department of Animal science.

Remuneration
The University offers competitive salaries and other benefits commensurate to qualifications and experience.

Contract
The appointment is on permanent and pensionable basis for locals or fixed term contract for non-nationals.
