Job Summary
As a lead for the ROLL project team, you will facilitate the achievement of project objectives through coordinating and reporting on all project activities and providing technical guidance and advice to staff and implementing partner(s) advancing Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) work serving the poor and vulnerable. Your coordination and relationship management skills will ensure that the project for which you are responsible applies best practices and constantly works towards improving the impact of its benefits to those we serve.
Roles and Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Implementation
- Lead the design, planning, and execution of livelihoods interventions in alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Ensure integration of livelihoods strategies into broader project activities and adherence to CRS and donor standards.
- Organize and lead the implementation of assigned project activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan.
Community Engagement and Mobilization
- Conduct sensitization campaigns to raise awareness of livelihoods-based coalitions.
- Mobilize community members to form interest groups and coalitions, ensuring inclusive participation.
- Serve as liaison between local stakeholders and the project team to promote engagement and impact.
Coalition Formation and Capacity Building
- Facilitate the establishment of community coalitions focused on sustainable livelihoods.
- Develop and deliver targeted training sessions to enhance coalition members’ skills in resilience-building and income generation.
- Support capacity building of field teams and partners to ensure quality implementation.
Resource Development
- Review and update a comprehensive Livelihoods-Based Coalition Guiding Manual.
- Create training materials and tools tailored to the needs of coalition interest groups.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning
- Conduct regular field visits to assess progress and provide technical guidance.
- Collaborate with coalition members to develop graduation criteria and impact indicators.
- Support project evaluations and documentation of lessons learned and promising practices.
Reporting and Documentation
- Compile and submit periodic progress reports detailing achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
- Ensure complete and compliant documentation of project activities and outcomes.
Operational and Administrative Support
- Oversee ad-hoc inspections and ensure adherence to process standards.
- Coordinate logistical and administrative support for staff and partners.
- Track resource use and support periodic budget reviews.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in development studies, Agriculture, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in livelihoods programming, community development, or related areas.
- Proven experience in training facilitation, community mobilization, and coalition building.
- Strong understanding of sustainable livelihoods frameworks and resilience strategies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
- Experience working with partners and participatory action planning.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound judgment.
- Effective relationship management and ability to work closely with local partners.
- Proactive, results-oriented, and service-driven.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Additional Information
- Languages: Proficiency in English and Sesotho preferred.
- Travel: Must be willing and able to travel up to 60% to field locations.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes – oversight of Field Agents and community facilitators.
