REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
SERVING ON LIA EXAMINATIONS BOARD
The Lesotho Institute of Accountants (LIA) is a body corporate established by the Accountants Act of 1977 to regulate the accounting profession in Lesotho. It is a membership body for professional accountants, admitting members into Technician Accountant (TA), General Accountant (GA), and Chartered Accountant (CA) membership categories, including Public practice.
Background
In the process of admitting members, LIA has historically relied on information provided by applicants and reference letters from their employers. LIA now intends to introduce board examinations as a major criterion for admitting prospective members into its membership categories, whether in practice or not. To successfully implement these examinations, there is a need to establish an Examinations Board that will oversee the entire examination process or cycle.
Lessons learned from other sister Professional Accounting Organizations (PAOs) indicate that the success of the implementation depends on the participation of PAO members. It is against this background that LIA wishes to extend an invitation to members of the profession to partake in this important milestone intended to build the accounting profession.
LIA is seeking 9 individuals to serve on the Examinations Board as follows:

| Management and Finance (includes Taxation and Business Law) | 2 | CA plus 5 years of relevant experience |
