Every change needed in this world starts with you. As Mother Theresa said, “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”

Letsatsi Lekhooa is an IT professional with a degree in Mathematics and Computer Science as well as a certificate in Business Entrepreneurship. He is committed to community development.

Letsatsi comes from Lefikeng, Sebapala Mount Moorosi. He’s made a great impact in his community with the support of his chief and the community at large.

Since 2015, he started a community project on fruits and vegetables production. He has an orchard where he grows fruit trees – apples, pears, peaches and grapes. He also facilitates the planting of peach tree seedlings while at the same time selling some.

He is passionate about promoting sustainable Agriculture and he has been engaging local youth in some of his endeavours. Mainly enlightening youth on how they can survive with resources at their disposal.

At the moment, Letsatsi has grown 200 apple trees, 200 pear trees and 600 peach trees. Furthermore, he has more than 15,000 peach tree seedlings (sethopo sa lifate tsa litholoana).

More specifically, he has educated more than 50 youth on sustainable agriculture and computer literacy. He has hired 10 youth in his orchard. He’s become very influential in his community by promoting cleanliness through community development programmes like environmental responsibility and sanitation.

To expand his community development initiatives, Letsatsi has joined the Global Heroes Platform Awards. The competition is willing to empower youth around the world who are making impact in their communities.

The Global Heroes Platform is a youth-led organization, with a mission to empower young people around the world on climate change, entrepreneurship, and SRHR.

At the time of publication, Lekhooa Letsatsi (Lesotho) is on the second position with 2826 votes. Mexico is at the top of the chart with 3100 votes while Cameroon is on the third position with 1217 votes.

The voting period has been extended to 12th May 2018. The top 10 list of nominees will be published on the 7th May and the 3 GHP Winners will be announced on the 14th May 2018

Let’s keep voting. The candidate with the most Likes will receive the award. Therefore we need to share and like his post on the “Global Heroes Platform.”

Quizzed on how he feels about the competition. Letsatsi expressed his gratitude and the support he gets from Lesotho. “I just want to thank all Basotho who are voting for me. And I would encourage youth and old people to read.”
