Invitation to Nominate an Outstanding Nurse/Midwife for the LNC 60th Anniversary Research and Evidence-Based Practice Award
The Lesotho Nursing Council (LNC) presents its compliments to all nurses and midwives in Lesotho. As part of the historic celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Lesotho Nursing Council, the Council will host a Gala Dinner on 13 November 2026 to celebrate six decades of excellence, commitment and contribution to the nursing and midwifery professions in Lesotho.
As part of this milestone celebration, the LNC is pleased to recognize nurses and midwives who have made exceptional contributions to the advancement of the profession. The Research and Evidence-Based Practice Award has therefore been established to honour an individual nurse or midwife whose research and evidence-based work has made a meaningful and demonstrable contribution to nursing and midwifery.
Research and Evidence-Based Practice Award
The award seeks to recognize:
An individual nurse or midwife who has contributed significantly to nursing and midwifery research through the development of a model, framework or other evidence-based output that has added value to the nursing and midwifery profession.
The nominee should preferably demonstrate a contribution that includes:
- Identification of a significant service or practice gap within nursing, midwifery, education, regulation or healthcare delivery;
- Conducting or contributing substantially to research to address the identified gap;
- Development of an evidence-based output such as a theory, framework, policy, model, guideline, tool or other innovative intervention;
- Dissemination and implementation of the research findings or evidence-based output;
- Demonstrable evidence that the work has influenced or improved nursing/midwifery education, clinical practice, service delivery, regulation or professional development; and
- Evidence of sustainable and measurable impact on the nursing and midwifery profession and/or patient, maternal, newborn or community health outcomes.
Who Can Nominate?
The nomination process is open to all registered nurses and midwives in Lesotho. Nominations will be facilitated through the Lesotho Nursing Council (LNC), Lesotho Nursing and Midwifery Organization (LENMO), and the Independent Midwives Association of Lesotho (IMAL) through platforms to ensure broad participation across the nursing and midwifery fraternity.
We encourage nurses and midwives to nominate a colleague whose research and evidence-based contribution has genuinely advanced the profession and whose work deserves national recognition.
Information to Accompany the Nomination
Each nomination should include:
- Full name of the nominee;
- Professional designation and place of work;
- Contact details of the nominee;
- A brief description of the research or evidence-based contribution;
- The service gap or professional problem that the nominee identified;
- The model, framework, policy, guideline, theory, tool or other output developed as a result of the work;
- Evidence of dissemination and implementation of the work;
- A clear explanation of the impact and outcomes resulting from the work; and
- Any supporting evidence or documentation that may assist the selection panel in assessing the nomination.
Nominators are encouraged to provide specific evidence of impact, rather than relying solely on the nominee’s length of service, academic qualifications or position held.

The Council encourages all nurses and midwives to participate actively in this important initiative and to help ensure that individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of nursing and midwifery research and evidence-based practice are appropriately recognized.
