Background
The Ministry of Energy and Meteorology is implementing the “Lesotho Renewable Energy and Energy Access Project” (LREEAP) funded by the Government of Lesotho (GoL) and the World Bank (WB). The objective of the project is to increase energy access in rural and peri-urban areas of Lesotho.
The project comprises three components: Grid Extension to Industrial Zones and Peri-urban areas of Lesotho; Rural electrification by mini-grids; and Technical Assistance to support project implementation. The LREEAP hereby invites applications from eligible candidates for the following positions:
LEGAL SPECIALIST
Roles and Responsibilities
Under direct supervision of Project Coordinator, the responsibilities of Legal Specialist will Include:
i. Drafting and preparing all legal documents for LREEAP.
ii. Representing LREEAP on all legal matters.
iii. Drafting all necessary legal instruments for monitoring of LREEAP operations.
iv. Drafting of Mini-grids contracts and concession agreements
v. Monitoring and evaluating the status of all contracts for LREEAP.
vi. Dealing with all compliance issues as may be required by regulations.
vii. Developing principles and procedures for prevention and settlement of disputes.
Qualifications
i. The incumbent must have at least an LLB qualification or equivalent plus at least five (5) years working experience.
ii. Experience in Energy or infrastructure related sector will be an added advantage.
