Legal & Compliance Temp

MAIN PURPOSE
To directly support the Legal & Compliance Manager in ensuring that SEFS maintains robust compliance practices and remains fully aligned with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct KYC checks in line with regulatory and SEFS policy requirements.
- Interpret statutes, regulations, directives and guidelines applicable to SEFS.
- Advise management and staff on compliance obligations and emerging regulatory developments.
- Update and maintain SEFS’ Compliance Universe to reflect changes in laws, regulations and directives.
- Support the preparation and submission of Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and Threshold Transaction Reports (TTRs) to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).
- Ensure timely compliance with reporting requirements to the Central Bank of Lesotho and other regulators.
- Assist in preparing reports for the Risk & Compliance Committee and the Board.
- Assist in drafting and reviewing policies and procedures to ensure alignment with legal requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Law (LLB), Compliance or a related field.
- At least 2 years’ relevant experience.
- Experience or exposure in Mobile Money, Fintech, Banking or Financial Services.
- Must be admitted to practice as an Advocate in the courts of Lesotho.
KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES
- Regulatory Compliance Management.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation.
- Legal Research and Analysis.
- Sound knowledge of Mobile Money and Digital Financial Services regulations.
- Understanding of AML, CTF and Financial Crime Prevention frameworks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Report writing and presentation skills.
