Overview
The purpose of the Advisory Board for ALN is to provide guidance, advice, and support to the organization in fulfilling its mission to provide education to underserved communities.
The Board provides strategic advice on:
- Organizational development
- Program design and implementation
- Fundraising strategies
This ensures the success and sustainability of the organization.
Available Board Positions
Legal Board Member
Role Purpose
To provide legal guidance ensuring ALN operates within Lesotho’s legal frameworks and international non‑profit organization standards, including regulatory compliance such as tax and reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice on compliance, contracts, and partnerships
- Ensure ALN adheres to non‑profit laws, labour laws, and donor requirements
- Provide support relating to risk management and due diligence
- Advise on intellectual property, agreements, and safeguarding policies
- Provide advice on any other legal issues relevant to the organization
Expected Deliverables
- Annual legal compliance checklist
- Drafting or review of key contracts and MOUs
- Other relevant legal support tasks
General Expectations for All Board Members
- Attend at least 4 board meetings per year (virtual or in person)
- Participate in setting meeting agendas and contributing to discussions
- Maintain regular communication via email, phone, or other platforms
- Serve a 2‑year renewable term
- Contribute expertise, networks, and active engagement to ALN’s mission

Compensation
- These are voluntary positions
- No financial compensation will be provided
