PART A: JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports to: Chief Executive

Subordinates: Nil
Internal Liaison: Chief Executive, Directors, Head-Human Resource and
Administration, Head-Finance and staff
External Liaison: Relevant Government Ministries, Courts of Law, institutes of higher learning and CHES service providers
Section B: Job Purpose, Duties and Responsibilities

Purpose of the job
To provide effective legal advice regarding non-contentious and contentious issues of law in the formation of and execution of service contracts, resolution of disputes arising therefrom; represent CHE directly or through commissioned legal services in courts of law or through the appointment of legal firms in order to effectively protect its interests;
and to assist the Chief Executive in providing corporate secretariat services to CHE and its committees as well as ensure compliance with its legal obligations.

Key Accountabilities
✓ To ensure the development of policies, procedures, strategies and systems for efficient running of the Corporate Secretary & legal services office.
✓ To provide leadership in dealing with contractual issues relating to employees and other stakeholders.
✓ To ensure representation of CHE in litigation and other legal matters
✓ To provide guidance in policy review and enactment of legislation
✓ Identifies and minimizes potential legal risk exposure
✓ Conducts legal research and make presentations on legal and regulatory developments
✓ To provide secretariat services to the CHE and Council and its Committees

PART B: JOB SPECIFICATION
Essential Requirements:
Qualifications: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Equivalent
Experience: At least five (5) years related work experience
