Post Title: Lecturer – Power Systems Engineering

Reports To: Head of Programme – Electrical & Electronics Engineering
Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Head of Programme, the Lecturer is responsible for teaching and monitoring students, including supervision during industrial attachment.
The role also includes conducting curriculum reviews, internal examination moderation, and assisting in the overall development of the programme.
Responsibilities
The key duties of the post are as follows:
- Prepare lessons and/or training materials, deliver lectures, and/or conduct practicals for 20 to 24 hours per week
- Assist the Head of Programme in the development of the programme
- Conduct tests and examinations for assessment and maintain updated records
- Facilitate departmental community engagement projects
- Assist with administrative and other duties as prescribed by the Head of Programme or delegated representative
- Conduct departmental research and academic publications
- Contribute to internal moderation of examination papers
- Prepare lesson plans, lesson notes, marking schemes, records of work, and records of assessments for future reference
- Prepare, conduct, and assess theoretical and practical lessons to ensure effective training
- Participate in internal moderation panels and curriculum review exercises for quality assurance and effective training programmes
- Monitor students during industrial attachment and work-integrated learning to assess progress
- Attend relevant meetings for information dissemination
- Participate in activities within the field of study to support the development and recognition of the institution
Job Specification
Minimum Qualifications
- MSc / MEng / MTech / MEng Tech in:
- Power Systems Engineering
- Electrical Engineering (with specialisation in Heavy Current)
- Renewable Energy Systems (with an undergraduate qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field)
Experience and Other Requirements
- At least one (1) year of teaching or relevant industrial experience will be an added advantage
The candidate must be able to teach the following modules:
- High Voltage Engineering
- Microcontroller-based Controlled Converters
- Power Systems Analysis
- Smart Grids
- Renewable Energy
- Substation Design
Skills and Attributes

- Willingness to supervise students during extra-mural activities
