LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master of Counselling, Counselling Psychology, Clinical/Social/Developmental/Community Psychology/Spiritual or Pastoral Psychology. PhD will be an added advantage.
  • Must have a strong background in Child and Adolescent Psychology, Spiritual Psychology; Art therapies.
  • Strong Background qualification in Theology/Religion or Spiritual/Pastoral Counselling at Bachelor’s Degree level.
  • Membership in a Spiritual Counselling/Counselling/Psychology/Mental Health Association will be an added advantage.
  • Strong evidence of publication in refereed and/or accredited journals.
  • Applicants should have at least two (2) years of teaching experience at Tertiary level.
  • Knowledge of using online learning management systems.

DUTIES:
The successful appointee will be expected to:

  • Teach counselling, psychology, mental health courses at undergraduate level.
  • Supervise students’ projects and dissertations.
  • Conduct research and engage in relevant community service activities.
  • Develop programs and policies for improving mental health amongst children and young people in the country.
  • Have good liaison with relevant professional bodies and mental health institutions and/or professional practices.
  • The successful applicant will be required to play an active role in building the Department, taking the lead in developing new areas of activity when required, and contributing to the Department, the Faculty and the University-wide activities.
  • He or she will be expected to have a clear research and publication strategy and be willing to contribute to projects that complement the Department, Faculty and University’s research and knowledge-transfer activities.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to teach both physical and virtual classes.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE:
Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable terms for Locals, and Two Years Contract for Non-Locals with a possibility of renewal.
