The National University of Lesotho invites applications from suitably
qualified candidates for the following post(s):

FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES:
Post No. 2015: Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the Department of
Statistics and Demography

Qualifications and Requirements:
Applicants for the respective post of a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in
Demography/Population Studies must have:
 Ph.D. in Demography/Population Studies. Masters Degree in
Demography/Population Studies with a potential to pursue Ph.D.
and teaching experience will be considered.
 Some working experience in Demography/Population Studies,
which includes experience in teaching at the university level,
training of demographers elsewhere and/or application of
Demography/Population Studies in research, for a Lecturer.
 At least six (6) years of teaching experience at the university level
and proven record of research and at least three (3) peer reviewed
publications, and already be in the position at the equivalent
institution of higher learning at the time of application, in the case
of a Senior Lecturer.
 Skills in teaching theoretical and applied Demography/Population
Studies courses, conducting research and supervision of students’
research projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Successful candidate for the respective post of a Lecturer/Senior
Lecturer will be expected to teach Demography/Population Studies
courses, supervise students’ research projects and participate in
research activities of the Department. Whenever it may be found
necessary, successful candidate will be assigned any other duty,
including administrative duties, in the Department.

Remuneration:
The University offers salaries and other benefits commensurate with
qualifications and experience.

Type of contract:
Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable for Locals and two-year
contract for Non – Locals.
