The National University of Lesotho invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in teaching French as a Foreign Language (FLE).
1.0 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- a) The applicant must hold a minimum of a Master’s degree in Teaching French as a Foreign Language (FLE) or a related area;
- b) A PhD in hand or a pronounced intent to undertake doctoral studies in
French upon arrival at the National University of Lesotho will be an added
advantage; - c) An M.A. or a Ph.D. undertaken with a French-speaking university would be yet another added advantage.
- d) A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience at tertiary level for a lecturer
and, for a Senior Lecturer, 4 years of teaching experience plus a minimum of
3 accredited/referred publications in the area of specialisation;
- e) A Senior Lecturer should have a demonstrable ability to develop new programmes and to review the ones already running to assist in the successful completion and implementation of semesterization process.
- f) Excellent interpersonal, organisational, communication and presentational skills in French.
- g) Ability to work effectively within an established team environment locally and/or internationally;
- h) Experience in supervision of research projects at undergraduate level;
- i) The candidate should have a sound knowledge and experience in teaching and evaluating the listening, speaking, reading and writing skills;
- j) Must demonstrate the ability to develop and use appropriate instructional
material
2.0 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching and assessment of both theoretical and practical components
of French Language courses;
Supervision of research at undergraduate level;
Engagement in academic research and publication by way of conference/seminar papers, articles in peer reviewed or accredited journals, book chapters and books in French (and in English) in their area of specialisation;
Fulfil community engagements;
Consultation with students and the broader learning community;
Participation in appropriate projects and university committees.
3.0 TYPE OF CONTRACT
Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable for Locals and Contract for Non-Locals.
