LECTURER IN SOCI OLOGY

POST 1927

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of a lecturer in Sociology.

  1. Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

Candidates must have:

  • A Masters’ Degree; and
  • Have taken courses in Sociological Research Methods, particularly quantitative research methods.

The following shall count as an added advantage:

  • PhD in a relevant field;
  • teaching experience at tertiary level;
  • a good and sustained record of research and publications in the relevant area;
  • NUL alumni

The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published name of publisher, and name of co-authors if any. Publications should be categorized into: books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc. and include the DOI or ISSN numbers.

  1. Duties:

The successful candidate will be expected to teach and assess undergraduate students in Sociology and to maintain publications of research articles in accredited journals and/or books. The candidate will also be expected to supervise undergraduate students; participate in departmental and faculty tasks; collaborate with members of the department in research and publications; community engagement; and undertake any other duties that maybe assigned.

  1. Remuneration:

The University offers salaries and other benefits commensurate with   qualifications and experience.

  1. Type of employment:

Two-Years Contract with a possibility of renewal.
