PROFESSOR IN SOCIOLOGY/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/SENIOR LECTURER

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of a Lecturer with specialization in Industrial Sociology or Criminology.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
Candidates must have:
(i) At least a Masters’ Degree in Sociology;
(ii) A B.A. degree in Sociology;
(iii) Have specialisation in any of the following areas: Industrial Sociology and Criminology.
(iv) At least three years of teaching experience at a tertiary level.

The following shall count as added advantage:
(i) A Ph.D. in Sociology;
(ii) Have taken courses in Sociological Research Methods;
(iii)A good and sustained record of research and publications in refereed journals.

The Curriculum Vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published name of publisher, and name of co-authors if any. Publications should be categorized into books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc. and include the DOI or ISSN numbers.

  1. Duties:
    The successful candidate will be expected to teach and assess undergraduate and postgraduate students in Sociology and to maintain publications of research articles in accredited journals and/or books. The candidate will also be expected to supervise undergraduate/postgraduate students; participate in departmental and faculty tasks; mentor junior members of staff; collaborate with members of the department in research and publications; community engagement; and undertake any other duties that maybe assigned.
  2. Remuneration:
    The University offers salaries and other benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  3. Type of employment:
    Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable terms for Locals, and Two Years Contract for Non-Locals with a possibility of renewal.
