Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
Candidates must have:
- A Bachelors’ Degree in Social Work
- A Masters’ Degree in Social Work with specialization in any of the following areas: Clinical Social Work or Social Development and Planning
- Knowledge of teaching and research in Social Work Methods
- Familiar with current trends in social work education and training
- Publication record in reputable academic journals
- Ph.D in Social Work
The following shall count as added advantage:
- Preference will be given to a local candidate in Lesotho
- Ability to supervise Master of Social Work Dissertations
- A record of generating funds for Higher Learning Institutions through consultancies and other partnerships
Candidates’ curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published name of publisher, and name of co-authors if any. Publications should be categorized into: books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc. and include the DOI or ISSN numbers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will be expected to teach and assess undergraduate and postgraduate students in Social Work and to maintain publications of research articles in accredited journals and/or books.
- The candidate will also be expected to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students research projects and dissertations, supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students on field work placement; participate in departmental and faculty tasks, collaborate with members of the department in research and publications; engage in community engagement; and undertake any other duties that maybe assigned from time to time.
- In the event that the candidate qualifies for the position of Senior Lecturer, they will be expected to mentor junior members of staff in research and community engagement activities.
Remuneration:
The University offers salaries and benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Employment type
Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable terms for Locals, and Two Years Contract for Non-Locals with a possibility of renewal.
