The National University of Lesotho invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Studies (BLIS).

1.0           MINIMUM QUALIFITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

•     A professional Librarian possessing a Masters Degree in Library and Information Studies, with experience in teaching and/or supervision of learners in relevant academic institution such as a college/polytechnic or a university.

•     Knowledge of BLIS Curriculum in the Digital era

•     Full membership to the Lesotho Library Association.

•     Consistent activism in national/regional professional matters

•     Communication and interpersonal skills

•     Ability to multi-task around essential roles of teaching, research, mentoring, authorship and publishing

•     Evidence of publishing in refereed journals will be an added advantage.

2.0         DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Teach allocated courses that mainly comprise Fundamentals of Information Resources Description (Cataloguing and Classification), Organisation of Knowledge, Library Governance and Leadership in all types of Libraries, Global Information Societies – Networks and Cooperation, Types of Libraries – Agricultural, Health Information, School libraries and all as

prescribed by the new BLIS in the Faculty of Humanities.

•    Teach, guide in Student self-learning approaches,

•    Supervise and Assesses Learners

•    Engagement in LIS Curriculum development at NUL

•    Supervise in Experiential Learning and student Report/Dissertation Writing

•    Perform any other relevant duties as assigned by Head of Department

3.0 RENUMERATION

The University offers salaries and benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.

4.0 TYPE OF CONTRACT

Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable for Locals and Contract for Non-Locals.
