SENIOR LECTURER/LECTURER IN HORTICULTURE

The National University of Lesotho invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Horticulture.
QUALIFICATIONS
For consideration, applicants must hold the following qualifications:
SENIOR LECTURER:
A PhD in Horticultural Sciences, or any other related discipline plus at least three years teaching experience at tertiary level;
LECTURER:
A PhD in Horticultural Sciences, or any related discipline and at least one year of teaching at tertiary level;
OR
Master’s Degree in Horticultural Sciences, or any related discipline plus at least three years teaching experience at tertiary level.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the above-mentioned, the following are required:
Senior Lecturer:
- Proven track record of supervising postgraduate students on their research;
- Proven track record of research and publishing with reputable publishers, and in accredited journals;
- Applicants will be required to teach a broad range of horticulture courses at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels;
- Applicants must be capable of mentoring junior members of staff in research and publication.
Lecturer:
- Applicants must be capable of teaching a broad range of horticulture courses at Undergraduate level.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Teaching a variety of courses in horticulture at undergraduate levels (for lecturer) and postgraduate levels (for senior lecturer) in a typical Department of Crop Sciences;
Ø Assist in the development, diversification and launch of new programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
Ø Supervise undergraduate research projects (lecturer) and postgraduate dissertations (Senior lecturer);
Ø Participate in the research and community outreach/development programs of the Department/Faculty;
- Carry out teaching and conduct research in his/her area of expertise;
- Assume administrative duties if required to;
Ø Perform any other duties as would be required from time to time by the Head of Department (Crop Science).
