JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Head of Programme, Trade Instructor shall conduct lectures in his/her areas of specialization. He/she conducts curriculum review, internal moderation and research work. He/She is expected to take an active part in the upgrading and strengthening of all the activities of the Programme, and to participate in other professional activities of the Polytechnic to ensure effective training and development of the Polytechnic.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The key duties of the post are as follows :-

  1. Prepares and conducts lessons and/or training materials, practicals and assess students’ performance to monitor the learning process.
  2. Delivers lectures and conducts practical’s for 20 to 24 hours per week
  3. Prepares course outlines in the assigned courses and issues them to Students.
  4. Conducts tests and examinations and submits results to the HOP
  5. Participates in Internal moderation and curriculum review exercise
  6.    Ensures discipline and counselling of students.
  7.    Participates in research and development activities.
  8. Mentors junior staff members in carrying out their teaching responsibilities.
  9.    Monitors students on industrial attachment to obtain feedback on their progress.
  10.  Assists the Head of Programme in the development of the programme.

JOB SPECIFICATION

QUALIFICATIONS

TRADE INSTRUCTOR

Degree in Building Technology and Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery, Plus two (2) years Industrial or Teaching and Learning Experience.

OR

Diploma in Civil Engineering and Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery or Diploma in Education in Technology Study in Carpentry or Advance Professional Certificate in related field Plus two (2) years Industrial or Teaching and Learning Experience.
