Responsibilities:
- Teach and assess undergraduate students in the Mining Surveying disciplines of Mine Design, Mine Valuation, Mineral Resource Management, Mine Surveying and Surveying network adjustment
- Liaise and maintain excellent relationships with Industry
- Supervise postgraduate students (Masters and Doctorate).
- Actively participate in one of the existing research groups and drive research activities.
- Conduct own research and publish articles in accredited journals.
- Be involved in community engagement.
- Computer literacy in Mine design and surveying software
- Familiarity with laser scanning, drone technology and survey network analysis
- Conducting research, supervising projects and laboratory work (at undergraduate and postgraduate level).
- Being involved in all the Departmental academic and administrative activities (e.g. invigilation, participation in official meetings and gatherings).
A Masters in Mining Surveying, Engineering Surveying or a related field
- For a Lecturer: A Masters Degree
- Years of teaching and learning experience
Competencies:
- Relevant evidence of discipline advancement and / or community engagement projects.
- Fluent in English, teaching demonstration would be required.
- Evidence of strong industrial participation.
- Evidence of professional development.
- Evidence of relevant research capacity.
Recommendations:
- Government Certificate of Competency
- Registration with a local professional body (e.g. ECSA, Geomatics Council, IMSSA, RICS or related field).
- Previous lecturing experience.
- A minimum of three years industrial experience in Surveying, Mine design or Mineral Resource fields.
- International Publications.
