JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Head of Programme Civil Engineering, the lecturer is responsible for teaching and monitoring of students on campus and while on industrial attachment. S/he conducts curriculum review, internal moderation of examinations, also assist in overall development of the programme.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The key duties of the post are as follows :-
- Teach courses under Civil Engineering, as well as other departments and programmes as necessary.
- Prepares lessons and/or training materials, delivers lectures and/or conducts practical for 20 to 24 hours per week
- Assists the Head of Programme in the development of the Programme.
- Conduct tests and examinations for assessments and keep updated records.
- Monitors students on industrial attachment to obtain feedback on their progress.
- Supervises students’ projects and research.
- Participates in curriculum review to ensure industry relevance and academic quality.
- Participate in community engagement and consultancy activities.
- Assists with administrative and other duties as prescribed by the Head of Department or Representative as delegated.
- Conduct research related to field of expertise, and publish findings in professional journals, periodicals, textbooks, and/or electronic journals.
JOB SPECIFICATION
PhD/Master’s degree in Civil Engineering and BSc/ BEng undergraduate degree in civil Engineering
EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- At least 2 years of professional working experience in Civil Engineering or any related fields.
- Two years field experience in teaching or research work in Civil Engineering will be an added advantage.
Additionally, the incumbent should
- Have experience in the use of Civil Designer, Revit, GIS (Geospatial), and AutoCAD(draughting)
- Be able to teach
- Transportation Engineering
- Geotechnical Engineering
- Engineering Survey
- Engineering Mathematics
Skills and Attributes:
- Self-motivated.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Be able to work with students from different background.
- Be willing to supervise students for extra – mural activities.
