Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Literacy Resource Teacher / Monitor / Non‑Formal Education Officer (technical supervision) and the Area Chief (administrative supervision), the incumbent is responsible for conducting tutorial activities and performing all necessary administrative duties at a Learning Post. The role involves facilitating adult literacy and numeracy programmes while ensuring effective management of the learning environment.
Main Duties
- Hold public gatherings and conduct community outreach to recruit prospective literacy and numeracy learners
- Assess prospective learners to determine the appropriate entry level in literacy and numeracy programmes
- Enrol prospective learners into the programme
- Draft individualized facilitator‑learner study session plans tailored to learners’ needs and levels
- Facilitate learning sessions in literacy and numeracy programmes
- Provide psycho‑social support and motivation to enhance learner persistence and engagement
- Assist with the distribution of teaching and learning materials
- Keep literacy and numeracy teaching and learning materials safe and secure at the Learning Post
- Administer continuous assessments and final literacy and numeracy tests
- Maintain accurate records of learner information, profiles, attendance, and progress
- Report Learning Post needs and issues to the immediate supervisor
- Appraise the Area Chief and Community Council on activities, progress, and developments at the Learning Post
Job Specification
Qualification
- Diploma in Primary Education
OR - COSC / LGCSE / IGCSE with two (2) years’ experience in Non‑Formal Education
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Patience and empathy in handling adult learners
- High level of trustworthiness and integrity
- Digital literacy (basic computer skills for record‑keeping and reporting)
