Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho The Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho (BCMCFL), is the result of a public-private partnership between Baylor College of Medicine International Pediatric AIDS Initiative and the Government of Lesotho, and is a legal, non-profit/tax exempt organization registered in Lesotho. BCMCFL provides free pediatric and family-centred HIV and tuberculosis prevention, care, treatment and support, serving thousands of children and families affected by HIV, TB, or other child health conditions.
BCMCFL is looking for highly qualified local candidates to fill in the following positions available on a full-time, Fixed-Term, Special Contract basis.

Lead Counsellor (x2) Based in Berea (supporting Qacha’snek) & Leribe (Supporting Quthing) | Position overview The Lead Counsellor will oversee HTC service provision by providing technical support to Professional Counsellors, HCW and Partners in the implementation of quality HIV Testing and Counselling services, S/He will further provide support to Professional Counsellors in the Quthing and Qacha’s Nek districts. The incumbent will report to the Lead Nurse and is responsible for consolidation of Professional Counsellor’s reports. The Lead Counsellor will be required to travel 80% to the projects district Duties and Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Provide supervision, mentoring and on the job training on HTS for all Professional Counsellor and HCW • Ensure proper documentation of activities using appropriate national HTC tools for accurate record keeping and timely reporting • Ensure quality program implementation to improve clients retention • Use data to identify gaps and develop strategies for retaining clients into care and treatment • Support HTS delivery, patient management and patient initiation at supported facilities • Provide PSS to children and adolescents living with HIV in collaboration with other implementing partners • Develop capacity of Professional Counsellors, HCW and Partners in different HTS modalities including scaling up of HIVST and Index Testing and Partner Notification Services • Support outreach initiatives to systematically integrate Provider-Initiated Testing and Counselling and Client Initiated Testing and Counselling (CITC) • Ensure optimization of PITC in order to increase positivity yield • Ensure that the HTS registers are completed correctly and timely • Ensure availability of job aids and SoPs for providers • Consolidate reports provided by Professional Counsellors at the district • Accurate and timely submission of reports • Perform other duties as assigned by the administration | • Degree in Social Work/Pastoral Care and Counselling • Minimum 6 years’ experience in HIV Testing Services • Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing and monitoring HTC programs and activities • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team • Good report writing, training and computer skills • Willingness to adapt to the changing demands of the position • Willingness to work flexible hours in order to meet targets |
