Purpose:

Responsibilities Include:

  • Plans, directs, and monitors launch related activities for assigned initiatives.
  • Helps develop budgets by determining launch costs.
  • Responsible for launch planning to optimize the organization’s resources and ensure initiatives meet specifications in relation to cost and quality standards.
  • Coordinates Plant Readiness for Launches and reflects status in the local Obeya Process (VOPEX Launch Board assignments).
  • Coordinates Plant Deliverables within program timelines (meet customer milestones per KPI).
  • Product prototypes/pre-launch parts delivered on time and to customer specifications (MRD KPI).
  • All required APQP documentation submitted correctly and on time within customer portals as required
  • Facilitate customer visits for new product launch or changes
  • Support Customer-owned tooling invoicing by mounting tool tags and providing necessary pictures on time.
  • Support the local Plant Manager’s System for Management as it relates to new product development and Launch Readiness.
  • Support local NPR analyses and actions to perform at quoted rates within the SOP + 90 window after Launch.
  • Support change control for new parts BOM structures within SAP and Engineering Change Management for current parts.
  • Establish priorities, set goals, plan work assignments, establish deadlines, and carry out tasks to completion.
  • Evaluate and assist in design changes, specifications and drawing releases.
  • Responsible for all plant-based aspects of new product development and launch.
  • Utilize technical expertise to implement cost reduction ideas.
  • Initiate, coordinate and check Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs) for program related equipment and tooling. Perform these functions for High Level CARs when required.
  • Confer with planning, process engineering and design staff concerning product, design, and tooling to ensure a safe, capable and efficient standard process is being followed.
  • Develop supporting documentation used to report project progress to plant leadership. Must also report on roadblock status, necessary counter-measures, and amendments to the development plan.
  • Maintain plant-based BOS metric (projects on-time) and present at BOS or plant wide meetings when required.
  • Monitor progress of suppliers of equipment and production parts to ensure on-time delivery and correct PPAP documentation.
  • Verify gates of launch process have been met prior to shipment and arranges shipments.
  • Track product design and process changes and highlight impacts to cost, quality, and delivery during program development.
  • Ensure PPAP and SOP (start of production) are on time, milestones are all green, and production quality and efficiency have not met stated levels.
  • Identify roadblocks and hurdles early on in your project to allow for adequate resolution plans and escalation as needed.
  • Actively communicate with internal and external contacts to resolve produce and process issues as they arise.
  • Communicate launch plans and coordinate design review to ensure adequate participation from cross-functional departments and team members. Detail all countermeasures for management reviews. Develop a risk matrix and resolution for program direction.
  • Participate in customer development teams to present data, collect information, review issues, provide resolutions and accept their feedback throughout the project.
  • Direct launch teams and assist plant management to ensure adherence to NPIS and APQP guidelines, review product design for compliance and engineering principles.
  • Assist process engineers and launch team in review of vendor specifications and equipment purchase plans.

Preffered Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in, manufacturing engineering, or a related field
  • At least 1+ years of experience insimilar industry.

Mandatory Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of BIW manufacturing processes and equipment and assembly flow.
  • Ability to read and interpret system layouts, engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word ,Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
