EXPRESSION OF INTEREST – RE-ISSUE
PREFERRED VENDOR LABOUR LAW AND LEGAL SERVICES
Jhpiego is an international health organization affiliated with Johns Hopkins University (JHU) in Baltimore, Maryland. For over 40 years, Jhpiego has put evidence-based health innovations into everyday practice to improve health care for the world’s most vulnerable populations. Jhpiego has been operating in Lesotho since 2012, supporting the government of Lesotho in delivering health services.
Through this Expression of Interest request, Jhpiego is seeking the services of experienced and credible Law Firms registered in Lesotho to provide Labour Law and Legal Services to Jhpiego Lesotho. The anticipated initial timeframe for provision of such services will be 01 February 2025 – 31 January 2027.
The services required from the selected Labour Law Firm will be but not limited to the following;
- Renewal Registration of the Jhpiego in Lesotho as a local branch of an international not-for-profit Registration for exemption from corporate taxes, surtax and any other local taxes (in applicable to country context)
- Registration or application for exemption from income tax for foreign workers
- Review and provide any necessary recommendations regarding Jhpiego’s Lesotho employment agreements to ensure compliance with local labour laws (2 pages)
- Review and provide any necessary recommendations regarding Jhpiego’s Lesotho Employee Handbook to ensure compliance with local labour laws (approx. 30 pages)
- If possible, provide copies of all pertinent local labour and tax laws/regulations for the Jhpiego Corporation’s Lesotho office.
- Regular legal advice and guidance on matters of law to the country office as requested by HR and Country Director.
- Review of Jhpiego’s employees’ terms of employment
- Protect Jhpiego from the potential adverse legal consequences and to ensure that Jhpiego Lesotho interests and legal rights are protected
Interested Labour Law Firms will be expected to submit their proposals with the following items attached;
- Have at least 7 years’ experience in providing similar services in and/or outside Lesotho
- Submit references from at least 3 clients that they have provided similar services to in the past or at present
- Proof of the Law Firm being registered with the Law Society of Lesotho
- Provide resume of key personnel and any other employee that may be required to attend to Jhpiego’s queries
- Proof of being lawfully registered with other appropriate bodies in Lesotho
- Valid and up-to-date Tax Clearance Certificate or Exemption from LRA
- Provide bank confirmed banking details of the law firm
- Provide a table or hourly rates for consultations, court processes, review of documents, report writing and chairing meetings or any other applicable rate/ charge
- Provide the physical address of where the offices of such a Law Firm are locate
