What you can expect

Responsible for providing laboratory focused technical support for BASF’s Mining Solutions Business Development Projects. Testing of Novel Polymers, formulations and commercial products. Compliant maintenance of laboratory areas with adherence and in accordance with all BASF’S guidelines and procedures. All requirements of the function are carried out timeously and effectively within the department in order to meet budgeted project mile stones and quality targets of BASF. Commitment towards and in accordance to the BASF Values and Principles. Core responsibilities will include the following:

  • Provide laboratory focused technical support for BASF’s Mining Solutions via laboratory test-work as instructed
  • Responsible for the timely completion of basic test-work; recording plotting/interpretation of results and report writing
  • Support Global Development team on project work in the extrusion and briquetting laboratories
  • Maintain and Participate in the care and routine maintenance of the laboratory, its apparatus and equipment. promote a safe and orderly working environment
  • Maintain inventory of essential laboratory items, and ordering of third-party test work using the SAP based ordering system
  • Assist technical and sales personnel with all documentation and inventories relating to travel including stocking and maintenance of test-kits
  • Present a professional image of BASF to potential and existing clients

What we expect

  • Working towards completion of a National Diploma (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or closely related subjects)
  • Extended laboratory experience spanning at least 1 – 2 years in a similar role profile
  • Experience in a laboratory environment
  • Must have interest and knowledge of the Chemical or Mining industry
  • Computer literate – Microsoft Office (Excel)
