Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
The minimum qualification requirement is a Diploma in Consumer Science. Practical experience in Consumer Science at a tertiary or equivalent institution of higher learning will be an added advantage.
The prospective candidate should possess adequate knowledge within the Consumer Science/Home Economics discipline to be able to undertake laboratory preparations without supervision and assist students in the laboratory when required.
The candidate must have adequate technical knowledge to troubleshoot, undertake minor repairs of laboratory equipment/instruments, and identify when major servicing or repairs are required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Make preparations and set up for laboratory sessions, and provide supervision during laboratory sessions when required.
- Manage the laboratory, handle equipment, and perform minor maintenance of laboratory instruments.
- Keep an inventory of ingredients, fabrics, accessories, and laboratory equipment.
- Handle the procurement of ingredients, crockery, cutlery, fabrics, notions, haberdashery, and laboratory equipment.
- Schedule maintenance and servicing of machines and other equipment that need repairs and maintain all equipment in proper working condition.
- Arrange all educational trips for the programme involving staff and students.
- Work with Programme staff to strengthen relevant industrial relations within the unit.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

The University offers salaries and benefits commensurate with the position, qualifications, and experience.
Employment Type
Permanent and pensionable for Locals only and gratuity terms for expatriates.
