Job summary:
Under the general supervision of the Head of Programme, the Laboratory Technician shall keep the laboratory equipment sucure, clean and in a good working condition. He/She is responsible for the efficient management and security of the chemistry, biology and water chemistry laboratory; Physics laboratory; and hydrology, Hydraulics laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepares experiments and arranges necessary equipment and materials in the laboratories for experimental/practical training
Prepares and keeps inventory of all equipment and materials in the laboratories for security and stock control purposes
Maintains all equipment and facilities in the laboratories, workshops and model offices to keep them in good condition
secures all equipment and facilities in the laboratories to safeguard against theft and vandalism
Invigilates tests and examinations and marks the students’ lab report
Supervise students during laboratory and field work and enforces adherence to safety precautions
Safely disposes off laboratory waste and expired reagents and chemicals
Prepares monthly reports and maintains a database of all conducted field and kab results.
Minimum Qualifications:
Diploma in Water and Environmental Engineering or any related field.
2 years experience
A qualification in health and safety will be an added advantage
