The National University of Lesotho invites applications from suitably qualified Lesotho Nationals for the position of Laboratory Demonstrator.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Head of Department, the incumbent is responsible for laboratory practical sessions, research and interaction with Environmental Health students without supervision. The duties are as follows:
- Assisting Environmental Health students with laboratory practical sessions for their respective courses, setting up their experiments without supervision;
- Supervising students during all practical sessions;
- Participate in Environmental Health research programmes;
Developing a laboratory manual for the programme-based courses in collaboration with the respective course convenors;
- Assist in compilation, marking and grading of the laboratory reports, for incorporation into student’s course work;
- Ordering laboratory chemicals, equipment and glassware;
- Keeping inventory of laboratory chemicals and equipment;
- Carrying out any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
Qualifications
The applicant must hold the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health OR Bachelor’s degree in Science with majors in Biology and Chemistry, with Second class First division or above.
Experience
- At least Six months working experience in Institutions of higher learning OR experience in laboratory-based work.
Employment type
- This will be for local candidates, and initially on two-year probation period, thereafter the candidate will be permanent and pensionable.

The University offers salaries and other benefits commensurate with the qualifications and experience.
