In Lesotho in particular, Jhpiego has been operating since 2012 through supporting the government of Lesotho in delivering health services to the Basotho people. Jhpiego’s portfolio currently focuses on HIV/TB and COVID epidemic response and includes a range of HIV and COVID focused programming and research efforts including KHANYA (VMMC and PrEP), THEBE (TB Contact Tracing and COVID Response), RISE (COVID Case Management and Vaccine Support), MOSAIC (biomedical HIV preventi on including Dapivirine Ring Introduction), CUT-TB (RCT) and various other small studies.

Jhpiego is looking for suitable candidate for the below vacant position;

Laboratory Coordinator (1)

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with laboratory personnel in the molecular laboratory to ensure requirements MOSAIC and CATALYST are consistently met.
  • Maintain and monitor specimen shipment records to ensure the referral network and testing processes are followed.
  • Manage rejected samples based on a documented rejection and acceptance criteria and communicate efficiently to CATALYST and MOSAIC project coordinators.
  • Ensure proper monitoring of specimen transport conditions including temperature monitoring to ensure high quality samples are delivered to the laboratory.
  • Monitor rider’s schedules to ensure efficient sample transport.
  • Identify and resolve gaps from sample collection to receipt of results at the clinic, including processes within the laboratory.
  • Compile and submit periodic reports in collaboration with laboratory personnel, including weekly, monthly, quarterly reports and other reports as needed.
  • Participate in related laboratory activities, including meetings.
  • Participate in CATALYST and MOSAIC project meetings and serve as a point of contact for all laboratory activities providing regular updates to the coordinators and the principal investigators
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Experience and Requirements

  • A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in a clinical or related science. A Medical Laboratory Sciences qualification is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated skill in use of Microsoft Office soft ware (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team;
  • Ability to provide support to MoH staff
  • High personal motivation and self-management;
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn and accept feedback;
  • Confident communicator who can work comfortably with diverse groups of people;
  • Excellent time management and problem solving skills;
  • Reliable, diligent, detail-oriented worker who can see tasks through to completion;
  • Accurate, honest, dependable, and flexible;
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle and protect sensitive data with integrity;
  • Ability to work with limited supervision;
