LOCATION NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF LESOTHO

The National University of Lesotho invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Laboratory Assistant.

1.0       MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

   The applicant must have a minimum of BSc Agriculture (Animal Science).

   The applicant should have broad knowledge of laboratory duties in Animal Science disciplines such as Nutrition, Microbiology, Parasitology and Physiology.

   The applicant should be able to conduct laboratory practical classes and undertake preparations/assays independently with minimal supervision.

   Some laboratory working experience in an Animal Science laboratory set-up at university level will be preferred.

   An experience in demonstrating and guiding undergraduate students in animal science laboratory procedures will be an added advantage.

2.0       DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

   Demonstrate and guide undergraduate and graduate students in laboratory procedures and grading of laboratory reports

   Running and maintaining laboratory equipment and chemicals in a functional state at all times

   Guide both undergraduate and graduate students in laboratory procedures and analyses that relate to their research projects

   Assist lecturers in the design and implementation of Animal Science laboratory practicals

   Participate in departmental research programmes.

   Perform any other duties as would be required by the department.

3.0       CONTRACT:

The   appointment   will   be   on   permanent   and   pensionable   terms   for   locals   and contract/gratuitable for non-locals subject to completion of probation.

4.0       REMUNERATION:

The University offers salaries and benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.
