The National University of Lesotho invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Laboratory Assistant.
1.0 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
The applicant must have a minimum of BSc Agriculture (Animal Science).
The applicant should have broad knowledge of laboratory duties in Animal Science disciplines such as Nutrition, Microbiology, Parasitology and Physiology.
The applicant should be able to conduct laboratory practical classes and undertake preparations/assays independently with minimal supervision.
Some laboratory working experience in an Animal Science laboratory set-up at university level will be preferred.
An experience in demonstrating and guiding undergraduate students in animal science laboratory procedures will be an added advantage.
2.0 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Demonstrate and guide undergraduate and graduate students in laboratory procedures and grading of laboratory reports
Running and maintaining laboratory equipment and chemicals in a functional state at all times
Guide both undergraduate and graduate students in laboratory procedures and analyses that relate to their research projects
Assist lecturers in the design and implementation of Animal Science laboratory practicals
Participate in departmental research programmes.
Perform any other duties as would be required
by the department.
3.0 CONTRACT:
The appointment will be on permanent and pensionable terms for locals and contract/gratuitable for non-locals subject to completion of probation.
4.0 REMUNERATION:
The University offers salaries and benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.
