Job Summary
The Laboratory Assistant will support senior staff in collecting and preparing samples, performing tests, and recording results. The role also includes assisting with quality control activities in the Manufacturing department, ensuring compliance with GMP and health and safety standards.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Sample Handling & Testing
- Receive materials during harvest and document accordingly
- Collect, classify, label, and store samples
- Prepare samples for testing using in-house equipment
- Pack samples for outsourced laboratory testing
- Conduct chemical, physical, and microbiological tests
- Record results and monitor product quality
Compliance & Safety
- Follow GMP principles and health/safety regulations
- Report discrepancies to QA/QC Officers or Managers
- Stay updated on latest lab techniques and practices
Administrative Support
- Maintain inventory and report quantities
- File documents and answer phones
- Assist in development and improvement initiatives
Laboratory Maintenance
- Complete documentation (e.g., logbooks) per SOPs
- Maintain lab equipment and cleanliness
- Manage laundry and resource usage
Communication
- Report concerns to QC Manager or Deputy
- Share relevant information with QA/QC Officers and peers
Key Performance Areas & Indicators
GMP Compliance
- Adherence to procedures and standards
- Reporting health and safety/environmental incidents
Productivity
- Timely completion of tasks and reporting
- Proactive response to discrepancies
Quality
- Monitoring and testing product quality
- Accurate reporting of results
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum Qualification
- High School Certificate
Required Skills
- Understanding of lab systems and automated equipment

- Teamwork and integrity
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment
Physical Demands
- Standing for extended periods
- Lifting 10–15 kg
- Wearing coveralls and full-face respirators when required
