The competition is open to amateur and professional photographers from around the world. Entrants must be 16 years or over.

The Kuala Lumpur International Photoawards [KLPA] is an annual global portrait photography competition initiated in 2009 by Steven V-L Lee, a Malaysian photographer.
This year the competition has three categories:
• Single Image THEME – each photographer may submit up to 10 single portrait photographs on the theme of SENSE OF SELF.
• Single Image OPEN – there is no specific theme for this category. Participants may submit up to 10 portrait-based photographs.
• Project Grant – each poject must contain 6 to 12 images.

Entry fees
• Single Image – THEME and OPEN categories
1 image: US$15 in the THEME category / free in the OPEN category
2 images: US$30
3-6 images: US$45
7-10 images: US$55
• Project Grant category
US$45 per project (6-12 images)

• Project Grant category
Three photographers will be awarded US$1,000 each in June 2021 to allow them to continue and complete their work-in-progress projects. Projects must be ready to be exhibited in September.
