Role Description
The Keeper is a full-time, on-site role based in Maseru District, Lesotho. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day care, monitoring, and record-keeping for designated agricultural assets, such as demonstration plots, livestock units, storage facilities, or training equipment. The Keeper ensures that all assigned areas are clean, well-maintained, and compliant with safety, welfare, and sustainability standards, including proper feeding, watering, and environmental management where livestock or crops are involved. The role includes tracking inventory, updating logs and reports, supporting training sessions by preparing materials and sites, and alerting supervisors to issues such as disease, equipment faults, or supply shortages. The Keeper collaborates closely with trainers, field officers, and operations staff to support climate-smart agriculture practices and reliable learning environments.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in agriculture, livestock care, or farm operations, preferably in climate-smart or sustainable farming environments.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, manage basic inventory, and follow standard operating procedures for crop and/or livestock management.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to safety, animal welfare (if applicable), and environmental stewardship.
- Capacity to perform physically demanding tasks, work outdoors in varying conditions, and adhere to hygiene and biosecurity protocols.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work respectfully with diverse teams, farmers, trainees, and community members.
- Basic digital literacy for using mobile apps or platforms to capture data, access training materials, or coordinate activities.
- Prior experience in a training center, cooperative, or agribusiness setting is an advantage.
- Relevant certificate, diploma, or comparable practical experience in agriculture, animal production, or a related field is preferred.
