VACANCY: Junior Tennis Initiative (JTI) Coordinator

The Lesotho Lawn Tennis Association (LLTA) is the official national governing body for tennis in the Kingdom of Lesotho. Established to promote, regulate, and develop tennis across all districts, LLTA nurtures talent, builds competitive pathways, and represents Lesotho in regional and international tennis forums.

LLTA is seeking an exceptional and highly skilled Junior Tennis Initiative (JTI) Coordinator to lead the strategic implementation and national expansion of the ITF Junior Tennis Initiative. This role is ideal for an experienced tennis professional committed to youth development and the growth of tennis across Lesotho.


Purpose of the Role

The Junior Tennis Initiative (JTI) Coordinator will lead, manage, and expand the JTI Programme in Lesotho, focusing on identifying, developing, and supporting young tennis talent aged 14 years and under.

The role includes organising junior tennis activities, strengthening partnerships within the national tennis ecosystem, and promoting grassroots tennis participation across all districts.

  • Duty Station: Maseru (with regular travel nationwide)
  • Reporting Line:
    • Administratively to the LLTA Secretary General
    • Technically to the LLTA Vice President – Development

Role Overview

The JTI Coordinator will serve as the technical lead for the national Junior Tennis Initiative. The role involves driving the programme’s strategic direction, strengthening development pathways, and building sustainable structures aligned with LLTA and ITF development frameworks.


Key Responsibilities

Programme Leadership & Technical Direction

  • Provide strategic and technical oversight for the JTI Programme.
  • Ensure alignment with LLTA and ITF development standards and long-term pathways.

Talent Identification & Player Pathway Development

  • Design and implement talent identification systems for U-14 athletes.
  • Support structured, development-appropriate coaching frameworks.
  • Strengthen pathways from grassroots to performance levels.

Event & Capacity Building

  • Organise junior tournaments, festivals, and outreach activities.
  • Support capacity building for teachers, coaches, and volunteers.

Stakeholder & Partnership Engagement

  • Build partnerships with schools, clubs, district structures, and communities.
  • Collaborate closely with LLTA leadership and national sports stakeholders.

Resource Mobilisation & Visibility

  • Support sponsorship, grant, and government partnership initiatives.
  • Produce professional content showcasing programme achievements.

Monitoring, Reporting & Compliance

  • Develop monitoring frameworks and maintain programme data.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports for LLTA and ITF.
  • Ensure full compliance with child safeguarding and safe-sport standards.

Professional Experience Required

  • Extensive experience in tennis coaching, youth development, or programme coordination.
  • Proven ability to design and implement sport development initiatives.
  • Strong experience working with young people and community structures.
  • Demonstrated understanding of tennis development frameworks and coaching methodologies.

  • Technical mastery of junior tennis development and fundamentals.

  • High-level administrative and reporting competence.
  • Integrity, professionalism, and commitment to safeguarding.

Additional Requirements

  • Preference for candidates affiliated with LLTA-registered clubs.
  • Integrity, background, and safeguarding checks may be required.
  • Willingness to travel and work across all districts.

Required Qualifications & Technical Expertise

Education (One of the following)

  • Diploma in Sport Coaching, Physical Education, Sport Science, Sport Management, Recreation & Leisure Studies, or Exercise Science plus 5 years’ experience,
    OR
  • Senior Certificate (COSC/Matric) or equivalent plus 10 years’ experience.

Tennis Coaching Qualifications (Mandatory)

Minimum Requirement

  • ITF Play Tennis Certification
  • ITF Junior Tennis Certification
  • ITF Coaching Beginner & Intermediate Players – Level 1

Highly Preferred

  • ITF Coaching Advanced Players – Level 2
  • ITF Coaching High Performance Players – Level 3

Proposal Requirement (Mandatory)

Applicants must submit a 2–4 page proposal outlining how they will implement and deliver the JTI Programme, covering:
